METRITIS

DIAGNOSTICS

Diagnosis is generally made from clinical signs alone.

TREATMENT

Systemic antimicrobials should only be used when severe systemic illness is present. Antimicrobial therapy is not indicated in cattle that are clinically well.

Oxytetracycline is preferred.

Supportive therapy may be required (fluid therapy and NSAIDS).

DURATION OF THERAPY

3 days is generally sufficient but longer may be necessary in severe cases.
